| Here’s the gal the coffee-dyed yarn went into. I whipped her up as a fertility totem for a friend who was trying to get pregnant. She was more potent than I realized… my friend was pregnant before I finished the bunny. So now she’s a happy spring / healthy pregnancy totem. We are nothing if not flexible!
This little one was fun to work up, though I had to give myself quite a pep talk before attempting to embroider the details – I’m trying to keep in mind that it’s better to at least *try* to do things that aren’t my forte. How am I ever going to learn them, otherwise?
Have a great weekend!

Since the photos appeared ‘inside out’ to me, I worked all the pieces inside out. I like the look, but it was kind of a pain to do that way. The designer is left-handed (well, so am I, but I crochet right-handed), and that might account for the difference.

Hey, y’all. What’ve you been up to? I took some time off from blogland, but I’m still crafting away in moments stolen from the rest of my day. This bright baby blanket will soon be on its way to Operation Marine Corps Kids. If you are the charity crafting sort, please go check out their blog. It’s a lesser-known charity with a worthy cause.
|
I had this blanket with me at our last local knit night, and was taught the ‘crab stitch’ edging for it (thanks, Barbara!) After I returned home, I realized that the way I was doing the crab stitch was the same thing as turning the work over and working a row of sc, so that’s what I did. |
 |
| Sure enough, I did it wrong (sorry, Barbara!) I’m sure it was the student, and not the teacher. At any rate, the blanket still lays very nicely; the bobbling in the photo above has everything to do with the condition of my front lawn. For anyone wanting to know what crab stitch really looks like, read about it here instead of looking at my blankie!

Edited to add: I’m sorry, guys! I totally forgot to add my pattern and yarn information. Here it is.

| Hook: |
H / 5.0mm |
| Notes: |
This is crocheted; I might try to figure out how to make a knit one someday.
I worked 5 rounds of red, then 4 rounds of each color with a round of white in between. After working the final purple round, I turned the work and did a row of single crochet from the back side (next time I’m going to do crab stitch!)
Inspired by a similar blanket by “Sunspotted” on Ravelry.
Materials used (in grams): Red – 4g, Orange – 26g, Yellow – 44g, Green – 68g, Blue – 72g, Violet – 108g, White – less than 70g.
Point to point, it measures 35.25″ (89.5 cm) across. |

The mile 18 feet of garland is finally complete. My mom has a lovely tree done entirely in crochet. For the past several years, she’s gotten by with two strands of garland. This year, I confidently asked her whether she’d like yet another strand of garland, or a pair of lovely, hand-knit socks. Yes, I was hoping that she’d pick the socks. Ah, well. |
 |
Did I mention that although she’s sworn for years that she can’t manipulate the tiny thread to crochet this garland or the other thread ornaments, she crocheted a thread doily this year? I think I’ve been had.

Size 10 bedspread cotton from the stash. I have no idea what brand. |

Size US-7 steel |
| Notes: |
18 feet is totally longer than you think it is. Stop asking Mom if she’d like more.
In the future, don’t stick a size 4 and a size 7 hook in the same project bag. Who knows if you switched ‘em out midstream. |
For anyone curious about Rogue, I’m back to 1 skein in.

Today once again found me at the library, so I took more sky pictures. A storm was moving through, and the sky was different everywhere I looked. So, please indulge me in multiple sky pictures. I couldn’t help myself!
Today was our first week back at home schooling, so I didn’t get a lot of crafting done. However, I did manage to make this little guy for one of the boys. As you can probably see, she’s a little the worse for wear already from a few days of kid love. The other kidlet has ordered a snake, and I am resisting the urge to make him just the right size to swallow the mouse.

The boys talked me into crocheting these little guys over the weekend. They each picked out the yarn and colors for their own animal, and stuffed it with minimal help from me. The turtle and the snail are currently spending each night tucked in next to their own little boy.
